Governor's House

Called the 'Pendopo Gubernur', this was formerly the Dutch Residency, built in 1880, on the site of the Sultan of Aceh's palace (dalem). It is now the residence of the Govenor of Aceh. This is one of the earliest Dutch period buildings in Banda Aceh. Although it is a colonial building, it features a gable inspired by the Rumah Aceh.
During the tsunami crisis, this building became the centre for information and humanitarian aid activity. The building is still strong although it suffered some damage in the form of cracks on the walls and columns.
