  Conference Objectives 
 
                    To engage stakeholders in the conservation and revitalization of the George Town Heritage Site and to create a networking platform for stimulating the heritage industry.
To address some of the World Heritage Committee's recommendations for a establishing a comprehensive conservation plan.
To showcase George Town's conservation and cultural development efforts, in celebration of the anniversary of its WH listing. Among the anticipated results will be:
 
                    To build understanding and capacity towards creating cultural infrastructure, platforms and partnerships in order to use tourism and economic development as a positive force for retaining George Town's Outstanding Universal Values
To explore ideas and strategies of creating alternative livelihoods, as well as to identify areas of refocusing and retraining during the economic downturn
To create partnerships that tie up culture and heritage with business development in the food & beverage, tourism and property sectors (for example, beach hotels and city attractions) 
 Target Audience Policy makers, government officers involved in heritage conservation, culture, tourism, transport and infrastructure, etc.
 
                    Property owners and investors
Associations in culture, heritage, environment, tourism, etc.
Service industry, cultural entrepreneurs
Tourism industry - hoteliers, tour operators, travel agencies, tourist guides, etc.
Managers of cultural facilities and heritage sites, etc.
Academics and students
Community stakeholders, and those who live and work in George Town World Heritage Site
 
 Conference Tours & On-Site Dinners The conference program will complement conference room presentations with tours and on-site dinners to enhance the participants' understanding of the issues discussed. Participants will get a chance to experience a selection of George Town's many attractive heritage sites, cultural performances and traditional trades.
 
 Exhibition & Networking Opportunities The exhibition is intended to be a platform for facilitating exchange - enabling participating organisations to meet, interact and establish industry networks. Business matching, design matching and skills matching will be facilitated. Companies & institutions are invited to take part in the exhibition to promote their expertise and products.
